How far will you set your sail?

I came across a quote recently by the nineteenth century theologian William Shedd:

A ship is safe in harbour but that’s not what ships are for!“

It got me thinking about how the economy and in particular the mindset that many small business owners are currently experiencing.

Stick or Twist!

Do I ride it out or do I push the boundaries and see what I can do?

For many the decision will inevitably be to sit on what money they have in the bank. You never know when it might be needed.

As one person who finally called me to hire my services put it during our first meeting “I’m fire fighting and the trouble is I’m running out of water!”

If you are experiencing the feeling of you are doomed if you do and you are damned if you don’t let me put this to you:

If your business is going to ride out this present rollercoaster wouldn’t you want to give yourself the very best chance?

If you are going to win the lottery you have to buy a ticket.

Just the same if you are going to improve your business then you are going to have to make sales!

So have you fallen into the mindset that it is tough to win new business because let me tell you there are plenty of people out there who will prove that theory incorrect.

Sure there are businesses that are finding things tough but that is generally because they are not doing anything to help themselves.

They are refusing to indulge in activities that whether positive or negative will produce an outcome because they prefer to think that the outcome will indeed be negative.

If you accept that things are tough out there they will sooner or later become tougher for you if you don’t adopt a pro-active attitude.

The business is out there you might just have to go looking for it in a different way and in different places.

I can share with you countless stories of success that I have personally witnessed over the last couple of years and none more so than a company I am working with here in the North East.

In just a few short months the company has established an international reputation using LinkedIn which looks set to land them some very high profile deals in the not too distant future. Stories I would like to think you will read about very shortly here on B-Daily.

All with a very small financial outlay and a willingness to work and to win!

So I put it to you it is time for your ship to leave the harbour!
