Frank Haslam Milan receives national construction awards
Frank Haslam Milan North East has received three National Site awards for its considerate approach to construction in the region.
The firm received two silver and one bronze at this year’s Considerate Constructors Scheme Awards, following a number of scored site visits which looked at their attitudes to local neighbourhoods, general public, the workforce and the environment.
Only 650 out of the 8500 eligible sites were named as Bronze, Silver or Gold Awards.
Stephen McCoy, Managing Director for FHM North East, said: “We are committed to best practice and working with consideration for the local community is a top priority.
“We are delighted to have received these awards and the fact they are for three different sites and clients demonstrates our thorough approach and commitment to considerate construction across the region.”
Frank Haslam Milan received the silver award for its construction work on 10 new bungalows in Bedlington. Throughout the project the firm kept local people updated on its progress through newsletters and a community notice board on site.
Local schools and youth groups also benefitted from the project, and Frank Haslam Milan donated 150 football shirts to Bedlington Town Football Club.
One of the Bronze Awards was given for refurbishment work on more than 300 properties in the Stobhill area of Morpeth, on behalf of Isos Housing. During the course of the project, staff from the construction firm gave safety presentations in local schools and acting as ambassadors during careers events.
Surveys carried out amongst tenants living in the renovated properties indicated that 97% were satisfied, and the site was awarded a score of 36.5 out of 40 when it was visited by CCS monitors.
