Sumo throw their weight behind Children’s Cancer Fundraiser
Newcastle based design agency Sumo have created an eye catching advertising campaign to help a local charity, North of England Children’s Cancer Research to raise much needed funds.
The Children’s Cancer Run, which takes place at Gosforth Park in Newcastle each May is the charities biggest annual fundraiser and one of Europe’s largest fun runs, and this year the event has benefited from a colourful advertising campaign developed by designers at Sumo.
With over 10,000 people expected to take part, the fun run will raise funds for vital research into the causes of and treatments for children’s cancer, which take place at the Northern Institute of Cancer Research at Newcastle University.
The advertising campaign which launched last week uses a collection of playful illustrations to capture the excitement of the event. A strong orange background used across all media helped the marketing stand out and design kept costs down.
The Run has raised over £6m to date for NECCR, and Chairman, Chris Peacock is confident the advertising campaign will help the charity to continue to break records, “More runners taking part, means more money raised to support the research that will one day beat Children’s Cancer. It’s that simple.” Sarah Hanley, Creative Director at Sumo said, “We are delighted to help this great cause, and we look forward to seeing the impact that the campaign has on the number of people doing the run.”
