Director swaps his desk for gruelling 500km cycle ride
Cycling has been top of the news agenda for Lingfield Point’s, John Orchard, who was in France while the rest of Europe’s cycling cohort was in the UK!
John took part in the gruelling London to Paris ride to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
The 500k ride was a far cry from Lingfield Point’s ‘Lingfield lap’ where John and the business park’s other committed cyclists can get a bit of practise in during lunch times or after work.
Lingfield Point is now home to more than 3,000 workers who can take part in the site’s many ‘extra-curricular’ activities – even down to hiring a bike for free for a quick spin.
The ride took four days, stopping off at Calais, Abbeville, Beauvais and Paris, and raised more than £1,000 for the charity which is close to John’s heart after he lost a friend to the illness.
John, a director of Lingfield Point’s owner Marchday, said: “It was an incredible four days, filled with life-altering memories which I’ll never forget - and all whilst taking part for a great cause.
“There was a competitive streak running through those taking part even though it was for charity – It was a fantastic experience, although I have to admit to having very sore muscles.”
