Industry experts sought for workshop to build new dedicated Health and Safety app
Organisers of a workshop to design a new health and safety risk assessment app are reporting high numbers of applicants with only a few spaces available for those still looking to get involved.
The new Health and Safety app design workshops are set to take place on September 2 at Aston University, Birmingham, as part of a new collaboration between Aston Interactive Media (AIM) Lab and Leamington-based RNF Digital Innovation.
Those with responsibility for Health and Safety in small and medium sized businesses and individuals employed on a consultancy basis are being particularly encouraged to attend the workshops.
Managing Directors from organisations including Birmingham based Coen Construction and electrical contractors SJD Associates, staff from the Health and Safety Executive and Health and Safety consultancies have already signed up to the workshops.
During the design workshops, participants will be asked to help co-design a paper prototype of what will later evolve into a mobile device based risk assessment app.
With each workshop lasting around two hours, participants will play a key role in designing the app as organisers seek to tap into their knowledge and experience to produce an app that best meets the users needs.
Rob Mannion, RNF Digital Innovation Managing Director, said: “We have enjoyed a great response to the workshops so far. There are now only a few places left, so anyone wanting to get involved should contact us straight away.
With the workshops we are looking for input from health and safety experts who will play a key role in shaping this new app.
“No prior experience of user interface design or technical app building knowledge is necessary. All that is required is enthusiasm and experience in the field of risk assessment.
“By engaging in this process, participants will help to ensure that the needs of users are met in the design of the system.”
Dr Joanna Lumsden, Senior Lecturer and Aston Interactive Media (AIM) Lab Manager, said: “It’s good to know there has been such an excellent response to the workshops, since they were first announced.
“The workshops represent a great opportunity to produce a health and safety app that reflects the needs and requirements of those working within the health and safety industry.”
RNF Digital Innovation and Aston Interactive Media (AIM) Lab are delivering the workshops through their involvement with the Touch Digital Project, a West Midlands-based technology innovation project, funded through the European Regional Development Fund.
For those interested in attending the workshops in August please contact Rob Mannion at RNF Digital Innovation on either 01926 676145 or at email@example.com to book your place.
