Fargo Village is Coventry’s first business area to be connected to gigabit speeds
The new creative and cultural hub in Coventry is the first business area to connect to the gigabit speed Coventry CORE pure fibre network.
Fargo Village, which is home to independent businesses and creative arts, is now live with ultra-fast internet speeds available over the Coventry CORE.
The Camden Lock style scheme which opened in the city centre’s Far Gosford Street in September has access to ultra-fast connectivity through local internet service provider HBT Communications.
Brian Harrabin, director of Complex Development Projects and Mazing Ltd, which developed Fargo Village, said: “As a brand new concept for Coventry, Fargo Village is at the cutting edge and needs the internet connection to match. It is great to be the first to connect to the Coventry CORE.
“Fargo Village is bringing a whole new dimension to the city with niche and unique businesses, artists’ studios, creative workspace, crafts, cafes, markets and entertainment space.
“We have many independent businesses, IT firms, designers and artists, and they need the fastest internet connectivity for a number of reasons including online sales, social media and transferring large files. The Coventry CORE will give them a digital head start.”
The Coventry CORE is changing the face of digital connectivity in the city with over 300 public and private sector sites already connected. This new network will make Coventry one of the most digitally advanced locations in world, providing ultra-fast connectivity, up to 100 times faster than the UK average.
Local businesses who sign up to the CORE will benefit from ultra-fast connectivity and all the advantages this brings including seamless online communication, VoIP technology, cloud computing and remote data storage, which can all save time and money.
HBT Communications is one of Coventry CORE’s key service provider partners delivering a range of next generation communication packages for city businesses over the CORE network.
Rene Wheeler, from HBT Communications, said: “As a business based in the city, we are excited to connect this innovative business area, transforming the digital experience of business here. We look forward to Fargo businesses experiencing the benefits of ultra-fast connectivity which will mean that those based there can access information over the internet faster than ever before.”
To mark the first connection, Coventry CORE is holding an event at Fargo Village on Thursday, February 12, giving businesses in the city the chance to experience the power of the network for themselves.
Local businesses will also be able to find out how to access government grants of up to £3,000 to get connected to the Coventry CORE.
Brett Marshall, city business development manager for the Coventry CORE, said: “We’re delighted that the first business area has been connected as it is an important milestone in the transformation of Coventry into a Gigabit City. Fargo Village will be the first of many connections over the coming months.
“We encourage any businesses who haven’t yet registered their interest in the network to do so as soon as possible so they don’t miss out, or join us at our event at Fargo Village on the 12th February so they can learn more about the benefits it can bring.”
