Hackney beauty startup crowdfunds £190k in first nine days of campaign
On-demand service MILK Beauty has raised over £190,000 in first nine days of investment campaign with Seedrs.
The startup offers at home, in office and hotel treatments for time starved Londoners, 10am till 11pm 7 days a week. Providing a professional service tailored to meet the requirements of the customer, each appointment is delivered by one of MILK Beauty’s in-house therapists – offering the same quality and calibre of service every time.
MILK Beauty is aiming to raise £300,000 to take the brand to the next level. The initiative has already raised £192,000 in its first nine days with a large majority of MILK employees also buying shares and now invested in the brand. Based in Hackney, MILK said it is creating jobs at a rate of three to five new positions every month due to their fast growth.
MILK has grown four fold in 2015 with quarterly revenue increasing 43% on average over the year with all of the original and existing shareholders having now also reinvested into the business.
This rapid expansion has been supported by two new hub bases opening in Wandsworth (opened March 2015), servicing South West London, and North Kensington servicing North West London (opened December 2015) MILK’s Hackney head office location currently services all of central, North East and South East London. MILK’s fourth hub in South East London will open in February 2016.
Lucy Patterson, Managing Director of MILK Beauty, commented: “2016 is going to be an exciting year at MILK. To kick start our growth plans for next year we have launched a dedicated crowd fund through Seedrs.
“The fund raise will help take the brand to the next level. It is fantastic to see how successfully our campaign has launched. In the first 36 hours of the Seedrs fundraise we had raised £140,000, 47% of the £300,000 target. This high demand for shares in MILK illustrates the need and desire for this unique service for time-starved Londoners.
“We have priced shares in MILK very reasonably at £8.90 each which means all our customers and the MILK team can own a little piece of MILK and join us in realising our exciting growth plans for 2016. We are also thrilled that all of our existing investors have reinvested in MILK through the Seedrs fundraise.”
