Leading chain of aesthetics clinics opens to full appointment books after £35k investment

The owner of a Manchester-based chain of specialist medical aesthetics clinics who was the original aesthetics practitioner to the stars has reported record bookings across the businesses three sites until October.

Rebecca Mac, a qualified registered nurse, independent prescriber and owner of Mc Aesthetics, which specialises in non-surgical aesthetic treatments and training, has full appointment books at her clinics in Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham following a £35k investment into new equipment alongside sustained marketing activity throughout lockdown.

Mc Aesthetics performs services such as lip augmentation, dermal fillers, facial treatments, laser hair removal service, and also provides specialist industry-leading medical aesthetic training for nurses, dentists, doctors and beauty therapists.

Every year Rebecca and her team train around 100 medical professionals from all around the UK and welcome in excess of 10,000 aesthetics treatment customers for popular beauty procedures. She set up the business eight years ago and was one of the first clinics to make lip enhancement fashionable and bring facial aesthetics to social media, quickly drawing in a celebrity following.

The beauty and aesthetics industry in the UK is now worth £30bn and growing, overtaking publishing and car production, directly employing around 370k people or more. It has been one of the last business sectors to be allowed to operate once more following the easing of lockdown conditions.

Rebecca’s three businesses, which employs 15 people across the sites in Whitefield, Birmingham and Leeds as well as utilising a team of 20+ additional self-employed medical aesthetic practitioners such as specialist laser hair removal technicians closed for lockdown on 21st March along with the rest of the UK hospitality industry.

The staff were placed on furlough and the management team worked hard behind the scenes to continue to promote the businesses tirelessly online using social media, resulting in full appointment diaries for treatments as well as fully booked aesthetic training courses from the end of July until December 2020.

In fact, demand for the most popular treatments has increased by 25% compared with the same period last year, and to accommodate this, two new aestheticians have been recruited across the clinics for July onwards plus additional new equipment.

During lockdown, Mc Aesthetic clinics has invested £30,000 in two new medical grade diode laser hair removal machines and a further £5,000 for additional PPE, temperature measuring devices, floor markers, screens, auto hand sanitizers and deep cleaning across all sites to keep customers safe as the UK comes out of lockdown, in accordance with government guidelines. All staff achieved the new Barbicide COVID-9 certification, which further reinforces the businesses ongoing dedication to infection control.

Owner of Mc Aesthetics, Rebecca Mac, aged 32 from Bury, said: “We’ve built up an excellent reputation in the beauty, medical and aesthetics industry over the last eight years and I am very proud of what we have achieved so I wanted to sustain our business during lockdown and the temporary closure of our industry. I’ve invested every single penny I have in ensuring that we had a business to come back to. July-October appointments are pretty much booked up at all three sites plus training until December and we are delighted with this.

“In terms of infection control, we have medical backgrounds so this has always been at the forefront of our business; to keep our clients safe and we continue to be absolutely dedicated to maintaining the highest standards possible. We are delighted to now be back to doing what we love best and contributing to a booming business sector.”
