“You must not delay”: government urges firms to act following UK exit of single market

The government has issued new advice for businesses that have not yet prepared for the UK’s exit of the EU single market.

Firms across the country have been urged to ensure they have ticked off a checklist of six ‘key’ actions in order to minimise disruption.

For companies that import or export goods to the EU, there are a range of new measures that must be undertaken following the UK’s trade deal with the EU in relation to goods, services, staffing, business travel, data and accounting and reporting.

Business Minister Paul Scully commented “The UK is finally out of the EU single market and customs union, and business is changing.

“Many businesses have made great strides to get ready for the UK’s new start, but we know some are further behind.

“To avoid any potential disruption to your business, you must not delay - make your final preparations now. The government will be here to help businesses navigate this change.”
